Ever since I was a child, I've always had the business mindset. During my high school days in Ghana, I would often purchase used, damaged phones, repair them, and sell them for a profit.
In 2014, I moved back to New York for higher education. I chose to attend the wonderful, SUNY Plattsburgh. I was constantly thinking about different business idea's I could pursue, one that could be more sustainable and reliable than repairing phones. In January, 2015, it finally came to me! I started by purchasing and selling dashiki's to my friends at SUNY Plattsburgh. This was just a way of putting a little bit of money in my pocket.
One day, it all changed, however. I was watching one of my favorite shows, Shark Tank, and I was inspired to take my business to the next level by the owner of Bee Sweet Lemonade, Mikaila Ulmer. Now, I am happy to say that I am passionate about African Connection.
My goal for African Connection is to be the Footlocker of African Apparel throughout the United States, and even beyond. That one store that comes to mind first when the topic of African apparel comes up, you know?
