Black History Month

A very important month for African's and African American's is quickly approaching. February, Black History Month. This is the time where we take time to learn about African and African American history, and embrace our culture more than ever before. One small piece to the huge puzzle is the history of the dashiki! The dashiki was initially popularized by a man named, Ofuntola Osiejeman Adelabu Adefunmi, who was born with the name, Walter Eugene in the USA, in 1928. AKEBA Fashion Show

It was wonderful. On the 21st of November, 2015, the AKEBA Black Student Union at SUNY Plattsburgh gave us the opportunity to showcase our current and up and coming clothes in the Seasons Fashion Show. The current clothes that were showcased ranged across our product line. They included the Long Print Dress, the Premium Dashiki Dress, the Dashiki Jumpsuit, the Premium Dashiki, the Dashiki Dress and the Heart of African Dashiki. We gave the audience a sneak peak into some of the clothes that will be released in 2016. These included the Dashiki CropTop, TankTop and vest. Our First Fashion Show

At African Connection, we love to showcase our beautiful products. What better to do this than through a fashion show? Our first fashion took place at Indiana University-Bloomington on April 25th, 2015, during their annual event, Africa Night. We would like to, once again, extend a big thank you to the African Student Association at IUB. It was a huge success! The Beginning

Ever since I was a child, I've always had the business mindset. During my high school days in Ghana, I would often purchase used, damaged phones, repair them, and sell them for a profit. In 2014, I moved back to New York for higher education. I chose to attend the wonderful, SUNY Plattsburgh. I was constantly thinking about different business idea's I could pursue, one that could be more sustainable and reliable than repairing phones. In January, 2015, it finally came to me!
